Made from black and white pinstrpe cotton shirting with lace detailing at each end.
There are two layers of shirting, the outer layer is interfaced with medium weight woven fusing.
A small bow and button are hand sewn on the centre at the wrist.
I inserted the eyelets and lacing. They can be worn on the wrist or partially covering the hand.
1 - Pocket watch attached to a wallet chain (watch is not currently in working order).
2 - Keys from Helvetia Portable sewing machine case on ball-bearing chain.
3 - Leather strap with silver plated brass clasp and beads made from re-imagined earrings.
Made from;
Layer 1 - 1/2 circle skirt blue floral satin with floral print mesh and black ribbon on hem.
Layer 2 - gathered black mesh and blue netting.
Layer 3 - 3/4 circle skirt skull print jersey with white overlocked edges and gathered lace trim on the front and bow and button details.
There is also some random gathered fishnet on the side-back and the waistband is elasticated.
The display layout for the presentation of my range project.
Display features; 5 garments, 3 necklaces (pictured above), range board - 16 garments overall, mood board, fabric board and illustration board.
For the project we had to design a range for a department store based on a celebrity. We were lucky to get so much freedom with the class and I went with an exciting gypsy-pirate theme.
My outfit includes the Skull Pouffe Skirt and BW Lace-up Handsocks pictured above as well as my Welcome to the Jungle bustier.
Clock Singlet is made from a knit fabric, seams sewn with mock-safety-stitch (4 thread overlock) and cover-stitch on arm hole, neck and hem done in red. The front and back prints were applied using heat-transfer paper. Logo can be viewed on Other Images page 9.
Pantaloons are made from linen and stripe shirting and have elastic waist and cuffs. There are 4 decorative anchor buttons are on the front. Waistband is interfaced with medium weight fusing and cotton tape is sewn to the inside to prevent it from stretching out of shape.
Ruffle Top is made from white and black linen. Edges are finished with straight stitch so the fabric can fray. The centre-front laces up over the bust. The sleeves have 3 tiers, the outer is a full circle, centre is half-circle and innter is quarter circle.
Ruffle Skirt is made from crepe-suiting waistband, stripe shirting and linen under-skirts. The linen frays nicely so the hem is finished with a straight-stitch. There is white lace on the hem of the outer skirt. The waistband is interfaced with medium weight fusing and also has cotton tape sewn to the inside so it doesn't stretch. It fastens with press-studs at the front.
The bow on the back is detatchable and can be worn as a hair-clip. Bow Tutorial can be found on Other Images 09.
Under-Bust Vest is made from crepe suiting adn blue-stripe suiting, it is fully bagged-out, outer and inner layers are interfaced with medium weight fusing. It also has a core of medium weight woven sew-in interfacing. There is polyester boning in ech seam as well as the centre-front. There are 4 decorative gold buttons sewn to the opening on the side-front and it fastens with 8 press-studs.
There is also a small bustle on the back and decorative lace trim along the front-neck.
Ivy's P2 dress from SC4. Not enough people who want to see me in purple dental-floss to warrant making the P1 outfit.
Dress is made from grey cotton for outer lining and binding. The outer has a layer of black mesh for shiny. Outer and lining are both interfaced with heavy weight fusing, it also has a core of stiffened interfacing and polyester boning in the centre front, centre back and seams. I inserted the eyelets and lacing in the CB. The back neck fastens with a hook and eye. Sculpted details are Jovi modelling paste. Belts and sleeve cuffs are poly-suede. I did all the painting using screenshots as reference. Gloves were purchased and painted. They're childrens costume gloves, big people gloves are too big for my tiny paws. Belts attach with a press-stud. Sleeves are 1/2 circles finished with an overlock.
For p0tetoes, part of the Soul Calibur IV group we have planned for Manifest 2010. Kimono is floral print quilting fabric lined in pink poplin. Red is paint which was sponged on, gold fox was also painted, it has 8 tails. Binding and hem were hand finished. Fringe on sleeve was sewn on, lace trim was sewn on and painted. Broch details are below. Sleeve thing and little box were sculpted with modelling paste and painted with acrlics then sealed. Bra, gloves and belt were made from a lycra knitted fabric. Gloves gold detailingwas painted. Bra has gold binding and laces at the back.
p0tetoes is handling her own hair, shoes, weapons and accessories.
Drawn in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and mirrored.
Printed on transfer paper and ironed onto pink fabric.
It was mirrored so that it has front and back.
The finished broch has binding around the edges and an eyelet in the centre of the top.
It ties onto a gold flower which was sculpted from modelling paste with gold yarn and pins onto the front of the kimono.
Just a preview featuring the ARI glasses construction and the man suit.
Glasses came from opp-shop, was difficult finding ones where the frame goes around the top only.
After the LED's were wired on I crafted the new frames from foam-core and Jovi modelling paste.
Sorry about the photo quality, some of these were taken with telephones and webcam, the camera stopped believing me that it's batteries weren't flat and it took a while before I decided to gift it with new ones.
Gun was purchased, painted with acrylics and sealed.
Triptocaine tube was purchased, filled with a mixture of water, sugar and blue food-dye, the lid was pianted and sealed.
I.D was drawn in Adobe Illustrator using screenshots as reference, printed on semi-gloss photo parer, signed and laminated, thanks to Mum for lending use of her laminator. (photo is a screenshot I got from the game).
Gun holster I made from a single stirp of polyester fabric with a triangular pouch sewn on. Gun sits slightly in the armpit but isn't visible while worn under a jacket and that's what counts.
Jayden's ARI or "Altered Reality Interface" consisting of right-hand glove and sunglasses. Special thanks to Dad who did the wiring and soldering for the LED lights for me. LED's are all blue. Glasses have a series of LED's along one side of frame, bridge of nose and either side of eyes. Battery is soldered on so when it runs out there'll be major surgery to replace it. Frames are sculpted from foam-core and Jovi modelling paste, painted with acrylics and sealed with gloss spray. The LED's operate by a switch above the ear which presses on when worn. Plain vinyl gloves were difficult to find in my size, my hands are tiny. Batteries are AAA and located in a pack on the underside of the wrist. These are easy to replace. Wires were hidden by gluing calico over and painted with silver fabric paints. Blue dots on the underside of hand are also painted. Switch is located on palm and operates by pressing with the thumb.
Special thanks to Sabi who purchased the wig for me while she was on holiday in Japan earlier this year and also helped me to style it.
It was styled with hair-spray and the fringe is a seaparate piece. The fringe attaches by taking hair from the base wig, tieing it into a bun and tieing the fringe over that. Then lots of brushing and spraying to make it look more natural.
(The jewelery on the mannequin-head is not part of the costume, it is to weigh it down as it is rather light and tends to fall over.)
